The Journey to Entrepreneurship
For Sonny Messiah-Jiles, entrepreneurship wasn’t just a career choice—it was a calling. At just 27 years old, she made history by purchasing the Defender, stepping into the role of CEO and Publisher. With a background in journalism, broadcasting, and advertising, she transformed the publication into a multimedia platform, ensuring that Black stories are told with authenticity and impact. Despite challenges, she remained steadfast in her mission to uplift and amplify Black voices in media.
